Albert Sanz Trio and Antonio Serrano: Thirty Years of Music and Collaboration in Concert
Albert Sanz (Valencia, 1978) is one of the most distinctive figures in Spanish jazz. A pianist, composer, and singer-songwriter, he has forged his own unique language where tradition and innovation blend seamlessly. His music, profoundly lyrical and rhythmically vibrant, has left its mark on essential albums such as "En la imaginación" (with Silvia Pérez Cruz and Javier Colina), his acclaimed "O que será" (with Al Foster and Javier Colina), and his two most recent singer-songwriter works: "La espuma del mar" and "Cuando recordar no pueda" (2026), the latter recorded in Copenhagen.
But his performance in Almería holds special significance. Albert will be accompanied by one of his most cherished collaborators: the harmonic guitarist Antonio Serrano. Thirty years of friendship and intersecting paths have brought them together in projects like the duo "Mahalo" (recorded in 2014) and the international tours of "Tootsology" and "Clazzical." Together they have traveled halfway around the world, and now they reunite to perform Albert's music.
Albert tells us:
"For me, it's a highlight to have Antonio playing my music on this occasion. He has the ability to elevate everything he touches. As a composer and improviser, I'm in the best possible position because we know each other so well. I'm sure it will be a very special concert."
About Albert Sanz:
All About Jazz NY: "He seems to revel in the unexpected. His melodies move in absolutely enchanting ways, with just enough harmonic activity to challenge the improviser and engaging melodies to draw the listener in."
Sebastian Scotney (LondonJazzNews): "Sanz seems happy dwelling in the shadows, offering others the most elegant support they could dream of."
His career includes collaborations with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Javier Colina, Jorge Rossy, Guillermo Klein, Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, and, of course, Antonio Serrano, among many others. An evening of piano, harmonica, and camaraderie. Two musicians who know each other, listen to each other, and celebrate each other.
